Hema Bharadwaj earned her MFA at the School of Visual Arts in 1999 and has since been honing her craft. In her work she draws upon her lived experience to express both chaos and calm. Her work responds to a myriad of emotions as a mother, a woman, and a human in different phases of her own life; both the softness and sharpness of different points. She also is inspired by Indian miniature paintings and Hindustani classical music, exploring the play between reality and abstraction. Currently she is exploring emotions and its impact on the food we cook, our inner landscapes through watercolor techniques.
