Artist Statement

I believe that an artist should look at the world with the eyes of a child and transform reality into a world of his own.  Mine is a world of bright colours, filled with comic figures, mostly humanized animals: a bird that flies a plane, a fox that reads the papers, an elephant who answers his cell phone,…  All those figures come together in my paintings and form humorous scenes which reflect my child-like reality.

Some of my work is clear at first sight, just figures placed against a black background; other works get more complicated and look like colourful jigsaws; and then there are some paintings that look abstract from a distance, but in fact they are filled up with figures.  The three styles used here are therefore different, but there is consistency in the craziness of the figures and in the harmonious use of colour.

I hope my paintings make the viewer smile, the way i smiled while i enjoyed making them.
