The Alfa Art Gallery is proud to announce a very special exhibition entitled “Earth Mothers.” The gallery will be showcasing the artwork of five women who all work in ceramics or other forms of sculpture. However, that is not all these artists have in common: all of them are educators. Some work in high schools and some teach at local New Jersey art schools. This exhibit coincides with the Annual Art Educators of NJ conference which is also held in New Brunswick. The gallery hopes to highlight and celebrate the role of art educators in the community. Through this show, these teachers are given a platform to show their own personal work. The sculptures featured in this exhibit are inspired and informed by the natural world. Many of these pieces are reminiscent of Art Noveau, as they allude to the whimsicality of nature and the beauty of natural forms. The gallery will also be showing a selection of two dimensional pieces by these artists.

This exhibit will feature works by the following artists and teachers:

  • Colleen Gahrmann
  • Diane Emerson
  • Jamie Cream
  • Janet Rolnick
  • Pat Proniewski
  • Julia Kirchner
  • Zoe Marrow
