About
I’m originally a Brazilian artist, graduated at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, major in Art History. My visual research balances between paradoxes and ironies, body and image, beauty and horror, passivity and obsession, brutality and fragility, pain and pleasure, sacred and profane, time and chance. It is always an invitation to reflection and dismissal of icons.
Why think about dismissal of icons? The images over the time has constituted a great power in society, it causes great fascination. What we expect, what we see are aureate saints, the eternal perfect beauty, a flawless body. All these questions, throughout the research, is situated in a way that, always happens something that eludes us, that breaks us. Something disturbs the power line of the images and brings us to a revealing moment; a possibility is open to us. I use in my art works acrylic, gouache, collage, watercolor, Indian ink, woodcut, paper and canvas, and art interventions. I search for new material for experimentations and the combination between it. Combining the plastic material with the necessity of each work.
