Ritu Bajaj is a representational artist and elected member of the American Artists Professional League (AAPL) and Allied Artists of America (AAA), based in New Jersey.
Her artistic journey is shaped by vibrant color, family influence, and the rich sensory experiences of her Indian upbringing. Her early life was filled with the energy of festivals, close family connections, and a nurturing environment that encouraged creativity. During her school and college years, she developed her first artistic practice through detailed biological illustration, combining scientific study with precise sketching. At that stage, art remained a quiet passion alongside other responsibilities.
She later trained in traditional oil painting techniques in an atelier, strengthening her technical foundation and deepening her commitment to realism, which continues to define her work today. Ritu considers herself a lifelong learner, continually refining her skills and expanding her technical fluency to support her artistic vision.
Her paintings are primarily focused on landscapes and florals, reflecting a deep appreciation for nature. Whether capturing the subtle movement of light through leaves or the luminous tones of blooming petals, she transforms everyday scenes and travel inspirations into expressive works that reflect her “unique perspective of the familiar and relatable.” Her process is immersive and layered, using paint and glazes to achieve balance in color, light, and intensity, inviting viewers to pause and experience the familiar in new ways.
Over the years, she has participated in juried exhibitions and private collections through commissioned work, earning numerous awards and honorable mentions. Her work was selected for publication in a book review in Harper’s Magazine (December 2022), and one of her paintings was chosen for the cover of the ArtWanted.com 2024 landscape calendar.
In 2025, Ritu was honored with the Alden Bryan Memorial Medal Award for Traditional Landscape at the Allied Artists’ 112th Exhibition.
Outside of her artistic practice, she enjoys travel and culinary exploration. In her words, it is this “ever-evolving” journey of painting, perceiving, and growing—that continues to bring life to her work and invites viewers to see the extraordinary in the everyday.
