Kay Kenny sits down for an interview with Alfa Art Gallery. Kay is featured in the winter 2020 Moments of Focus photography exhibition at Alfa Art Gallery. Kenny’s series, “Into the Night in the Middle of Nowhere,” is a celebration of lonely corners of our rural landscapes. In a series of long exposures that capture the intense activity of the night sky, silhouettes of the darkened landscape are backdrops for the illuminated otherworldly events taking place below. Her work serves to render what we cannot see, or don’t try to know. Urban dwellers inundated with ambient light and pollution cannot fathom the peace that can come with darkness and quiet. She hopes her photographs will encourage others to rediscover the night sky.
