About Ethan Patrick Sherman
Ethan Patrick Sherman was born in Philadelphia, PA, in 1990. He lives and works between Philadelphia, PA and Cuauhtémoc, Ciudad de México, Estado de México. His work encompasses painting, sculpture, photography, drawing, and sometimes social practice. His life and practice are influenced by architecture, design, Magical Realism, the work of Jorge Luis Borges, Roberto Bolaño, Agnes Martin, Trevor Paglen, Dove Allouche, Hector Esrawe, Susan Sontag, and Neal Stephenson. He studied Printmaking and Sculpture at the Mason Gross School of the Arts, Rutgers University, New Brunswick, NJ. He has exhibited throughout The United States of America, France, Argentina, and Pakistan. His work has been featured in Create Magazine, The St. Claire, Zettel Magazine, and Fresh Paint Magazine. From 2014 to 2018 he was a member of Little Berlin and curated λόγος (2017), Uline Official Spring/Summer 2017 at the Artist-Run Art Fair in Baltimore, MD, and Developer (2016).

Artist Statement
I make work in a variety of mediums including painting, sculpture, drawing, photography, and curatorial projects. I often work within a set of parameters; either the physical constraints of the material or self-imposed restrictions of the process I have developed. My practice examines humanity’s relationship to the natural world through the environments that we build, the objects we design, the systems we put in place around us, and the ways we perceive and interact with them.
