BIOGRAPHY

Erica Jones grew up in Asbury Park, New Jersey and later studied at Monmouth University, Italy and Parsons School of Design. She graduated with a BFA in Illustration and soon began work as an assistant painter to Tom Mosser, as well as freelance jobs. She is inspired by the quotidienne life, specifically the story of everyday people. She focuses on extracting and finding the beauty in what may seem banal. Ms. Jones created an after school program in which she taught inner city kids how to make murals. The impact of this program lead her to seek further education and she received her MAT in teaching. She then became the art director in Cameroon, West Africa at the American School of Yaoundé where she continued to teach mural making to local kids for two years. She was motivated and moved by the culture, traditions and nature of the African natives. She currently works at Dream Charter School in NYC where she continues to teach and seek to capture essence of the human spirit though painting.
