The lush composition and sumptuous detail of Cathy Saksa-Mydlowski’s body of work is incapsulated in part by her eye for sheer beauty. in her own words, she states, “There is nothing more beautiful than a Bride. I believe this statement to be exquisitely true. Therefore, I translate the magic of the bride into a portrait that can be immediately appreciated,”. It is precisely this appreciation for beauty that informs Saksa-Mydlowski’s sleek approach to contemporary realism. A professional artist living and working in the Central New Jersey area, she received her Bachelors of Fine Arts from the Tyler School of Arts at Temple University in 1974. She boasts a successful career delving into a litany of artistic pursuits from book jacket illustration to graphic design via her own firm, Saksa Art & Design established in New York City in 1983. With such an exquisite artistic repertoire under her belt and the talent to realize intimate details comprising human features to pristine effect, it is no wonder that her watercolor and oil paintings awarded her the Mercer County Artists Purchase Award in 2015. In 2017 she began her studies at the Princeton Academy of Art under the instruction of its Director, Anna Neis. Focusing on classical portraiture, she now primarily produces paintings composed of the oil medium particularly concentrating in the portraiture of Brides.
