Lisa Marseglia-Moran is an accomplished artist and former art educator whose professional and creative journey spans over three decades. After earning her BFA in Fine Arts from Boston College and further honing her skills at the Arts Students League of NYC, Lisa embarked on a rewarding teaching career in New Jersey, shaping the artistic journeys of countless students from 1991 to 2021.
In 2021, Lisa transitioned to focus fully on her art, showcasing her work across New Jersey, New York, and Connecticut. Her artistic repertoire is diverse, engaging with oils, watercolors, pen and ink, and mixed media. Lisa’s signature mixed media pieces on woven paper started in the mid-1990s, where she intricately combines cut pieces of organic drawings and paintings into a woven tapestry, further enhancing them with paint and collage. This technique is emblematic of her artistic philosophy—that all life is interconnected through energy.
Her recent work, the “In Lak’Ech” series, reflects this belief through a poignant exploration of human diversity. Inspired by a Mayan philosophy meaning “I am you, you are me,” this series involves weaving individual portraits of various ethnicities together, maintaining their uniqueness while blending them into a unified, balanced composition. Through this, Lisa’s art becomes a metaphor for the interconnectedness of humanity.
Lisa’s art has been celebrated in numerous exhibitions and has garnered several awards, including a notable recognition at Bergen County Art in the Park for her mixed-media work. As she continues to exhibit and evolve, Lisa Marseglia-Moran remains a profound voice in the art world, advocating for the beauty and unity found in our diverse connections.
