About Beth Palser

Beth Palser is the creator of a unique style of painting that brings together realism with hard-edged brush strokes. Her background in Graphic Design and the years she spent working for a print-maker doing color separations for the screens, played a huge influence in her painting style. The combination of these methods and her early years painting in oils, gave way for the birth of this modern sophisticated watercolor style called Graphic Realism. Palser’s paintings have dimension, and the fractured brush strokes demonstrating a clean graphic quality, emit emotion from the viewer. As one of her Patrons describes,” Her brush strokes show such Strength, the motion in her works is stirring and her use of color is mesmerizing” 

Texture, contrast, detail and vibrant color are elements which have become the signatures in her paintings. Palser’s subject matter varies from Landscapes to the Urban scenes of Philadelphia or to the many beaches around the US and Caribbean, where she vacationed, but her Style is consistent and evident in each piece. 

“Viewers are attracted to my watercolors because it’s Singular. I’m doing my own thing and it can’t be compared to anything else. Most have never seen an approach to a traditional medium painted in such a unique manner. You can see the journey of my background in each painting, feel the Passion in each brushstroke and the vibrancy of Life in the colors. This is Graphic Realism.” -Beth Palser 

Palser’s received more than 50 awards for her watercolors and achieved signature membership status from prestigious national juried groups like Catharine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club in Manhattan, The Pennsylvania & Baltimore Watercolor Societies and the Adirondacks National Exhibition of American Watercolors. During her 34 year career as a painter, She’s exhibited in 10 One-Woman Shows, 10 Two Person Shows, over 100 Group Invitational Shows and more than 350 Juried shows throughout the Mid-Atlantic States. Her art is included in private and corporate collections throughout the United States and abroad.

Artist Statement

I live in Southern Chester County, Pennsylvania and painting watercolors in a Graphic Realism style with subjects varying from Landscapes, Seascapes to Philadelphia scenes. My Style is consistent and evident in each piece. Texture, contrast, detail and vibrant color are elements which has become the signatures in my work and from the detailed drawing to all the different stages in between, painting my style takes a considerable amount of patience, time and planning. “Whether it’s the the peeling bark on a tree, the stone structure of a building, the curling wave crashing onto the sand or the rolling clouds over a farm field, in all these things I see light, shadow and color. This is my inspiration to paint and to try and capture on paper what I felt when I viewed my surroundings.” -beth palser
