About Gail Wood Miller
Gail Wood Miller is a watercolor artist and a photographer. Coming from a long line of artists, she was taught by her mother, who was taught by her father. At the age of 2, she started drawing, creating stories about a duck. She would narrate these stories, flipping pages of her drawings on the easel to pull the story together. This would continue, using school story assignments to illustrate her tales. She would become an English teacher, following art as a hobby. When she retired from teaching, she would start using art as her profession.
She would never fully grow out of storytelling, and this is reflected nowhere more than in her paintings. In the paintings, she seeks to convey the essence of objects, especially those that reflect hope and understanding. Sometimes her art conveys more emotional drive, while other times it is more literal. Her perfect balance of these two extremes allows the viewer’s imagination to take over. She strives for her art to bring appreciation, for both the viewer and the world that surrounds all of us.
