Marilyn Rose bases her paintings on the natural world.  She focuses on the edges of her subject matters; the places where things meet (light and shadow, pigment and water, etc.). Her use of watercolor to document an inner journey in her art work is what sets her apart from traditional artists. Growing up in Chicago, Marilyn took classes at the Art Institute of Chicago. Soon after, she earned her BFA from Washington University and continued her studies at the School of Visual Arts in New York. Currently, she resides in West Caldwell, New Jersey. She is an elected member of the Northeast Watercolor Society, elected member and Membership Chair of the New Jersey Watercolor Society, a member of the Baltimore Watercolor Society and the Essex Watercolor Society, and an associate member of the American Watercolor Society. Marilyn has also won several awards across the country and has been featured in many private collections.
