Interested in the way photographs can evoke an experience of nostalgia, Dustin works from his collection and the memories attached to them. A photograph is a way to remind him of his past, feeling that if he loses the photograph he will lose the memory. While this may be an irrational fear, it is undeniable that our visual perception of images can trigger a gateway to memories.  Ultimately his drawings and paintings are slightly distorted, similar to the process of memory. While some portions of information remain vivid, others are hazy and blurred. If a photograph is a moment frozen in time, then Dustin’s work allows him to un-freeze that moment during the process of analyzing and remaking the photograph.
