Nanci Hersh is interested in the passing down of information genetically, socially, and historically. She is inspired by what we as humans leave behind, and how this continues to shape our identity. Thus, she uses media such as graphite, netting, wires, and collage to connect life experiences to water. Her out-of-the-box techniques reference the body which house our spirits as well as our baggage. Nanci received her BFA with honors from the Pratt Institute in New York and her MFA with honors from the University of Hawaii. She also attended the Santa Reparata Graphic Center in Florence, Italy. She is currently a Teaching Artist at YoungMoms, a Master Teaching Artist for NJSCA, and a Teaching Artist for the Young Audiences of New Jersey.
