DESCRIPTION:Virtual Opening Reception : Thursday\, November 14\,2024 6:30pm \nAlfa Art Gallery invites you to immerse yourself in a vibrant collection where nature’s rhythms and the complexities of human identity converge.”Textures of the Tides: Explorations of Nature\, Form\, & Identity” is the newest exhibition in Alfa’s New Brunswick Art Salon (NBAS) program that has spanned over the past fourteen years. The featured artworks explore the fluidity of watercolor and mixed media\, capturing the interplay between the natural world and personal introspection. This exhibition promises to engage viewers with its dynamic blend of technique\, narrative\, and emotion\, offering a fresh perspective on how art can both shape and be shaped by the world around us. \n  \nTo attend the virtual event\, please see the link at the bottom of this page.  \n  \n2024 NBAS Featured Artists in Watercolor and Mixed Media: \nAlaiyo Bradshaw is a visual journalist who works in drypoint and watercolor. She is also a College Professor at Parsons School of Design. Her conceptual illustrations have been published in magazines\, children’s books\, posters\, book jackets\, murals and more. To name a few\, Alaiyo’s clients include the New York Times Magazine\, Harcourt Brace\, McGraw-Hill\, and 20/20. \nCathleen McCoy Bristol is a former instructor at the Newark School of Fine and Industrial Art\, the Junior Museum of the Newark Museum\, Essex County Park Commission\, Arts Unbound \,Senior Studio and Trinity Presbyterian Church Summer Program. She has freelanced as a fashion illustrator but her passion is as a painter\, focusing mostly on portraits and  figure work but also paints landscapes\, still lifes and animals. \nCheryl Gross masterfully combines abstract and realistic elements to create impactful socio-political narratives. Her art delves into childhood fantasies while addressing gender and societal roles\, particularly in male-dominated professions. In series like “Biking Babes\,” “Boxing Babes\,” and “Cowgirls\,” Gross critiques the marginalization of women while celebrating their growing prominence in these fields. \nDavid Gothard is a highly accomplished artist and educator with a BFA in Drawing from Pratt Institute. He teaches as an Adjunct Professor at the New York Academy of Art and Penn State University. As a versatile freelance illustrator\, Gothard has created concept art for editorial\, books\, and corporate advertising\, with a notable client list of major publications and companies. \nHana Aviv believes in the soothing power of nature\, which she captures in her bright watercolor works. Inspired by her outdoor adventures and plein air sketching\, Aviv’s art invites viewers to experience the peace and tranquility that nature offers. \nIndira Cariappa takes inspiration from everyday life and nature\, depicting her compositions in an abstract realist style. Her travels throughout the United States and instruction from fellow watercolor artists have shaped her unique perspective. \nIsabella Pizzano blends water media\, inks\, and collages in her work\, challenging traditional perceptions and encouraging viewers to move beyond the confines of object identification. Her commitment to exploring the unknown and taking creative risks places her at the forefront of contemporary experimental art. \nJoel Popadics is a master watercolorist whose work captures the subtle beauty of natural landscapes. As Vice President/Treasurer of the American Watercolor Society\, Popadics is deeply committed to the advancement of the medium and to inspiring and educating both emerging and established artists. \nLisa Daniels creates abstract works influenced by architecture and nature\, using color\, texture\, and subject matter to inspire the viewer’s imagination. Her collaborations with interior designers\, developers\, and architects showcase her ability to tailor artworks to specific settings. \nLisa Marseglia-Moran is a retired art educator with a BFA from Boston College. Her unique abstract style weaves together handmade paper\, watercolor\, thread\, and enamel to create images of nature that express the interconnectedness of all living things. \nPatti Jordan is an interdisciplinary artist whose inky images of protean and organic forms reflect chance and unpredictability. Her works are entirely unique due to fluctuations in her artistic process\, making each piece a distinct expression of her vision. \nStella Chang began her career in fashion after completing her undergraduate degree at NYU\, gaining recognition for her handbag designs. Returning to her creative roots\, Chang now explores a range of mediums\, including watercolor\, ink illustration\, digital art\, and 3D printing. \nTony Armendariz is an award-winning artist who graduated from the American Academy of Art in Chicago. His watercolors convey the complexity of human expression\, using simple compositions to tell profound stories about life. \nVince Salvati studied at the Fashion Institute of Technology and Pratt Institute\, using abstraction to reflect emotional expressions and contemporary ideas.
