SUMMARY:2019 – November 1 @ 6:30pm - "Ephemeral Visions" New Brunswick Art Salon – Water Color and Mixed Media
DESCRIPTION:Exhibition Duration: October 29\, 2019 – December 22\, 2019 \nOpening Reception: Friday\, November 1\, 2019 @ 6:30pm  \nAlfa Art Gallery is glad to announce the New Brunswick Art Salon 2019 Watercolor and Mixed Media Exhibition. This year we will be featuring work covering a wide range of subjects\, from traditional landscapes\, to masterful still lifes\, to vibrant portraits\, and engaging abstractions.   \nWatercolor\, as a translucent medium\, is wonderful for capturing the fleeting\, flickering qualities of light\, emphasizing not only the beauty of light\, but also the transience. Yet it is a remarkably versatile material\, equally capable of clear colors and muddy textures. The continued use of watercolor speaks to its enduring beauty and utility. To make art today\, and to do so with a medium as ancient as watercolor\, is to engage in conversation with humans\, theories and practices from millennia ago. Each artist must grapple with the question of what it means to make art today and what it means to make modern art. Art\, and especially watercolor art\, captures not only the passing moment of whatever is depicted\, but the moment of history we occupy.   \nWe invite you to please join us for the opening reception on Friday\, November 1\, 2019.  We will give a brief introductory presentation of the featured artists and their works\, as well as provide light refreshments.   \nOur featured artists include: Alaiyo Bradshaw\, Angela Barbalace\, Ann Calandro\, David Obi\, Deena S. Ball\, Deirdre Sheean\, Elisaveta Stoilova\, Elizabeth Oberman\, Hana Aviv\, Indrani Choudhury\, Jeffery Cohen\, Joan Iaconetti\, Judith Hummer\, Lauren Curtis\, Maria Payer\, Mark de Mos\, Melissa Ruffino\, Nick Savides\, Tiago Segundo\, Valerie Patterson \n  \nAbout New Brunswick Art Salons  \nThe Alfa Art Gallery is a non-profit organization dedicated to the discovery\, growth\, and support of emerging and established artists. Since opening our doors in 2008\, we have worked to achieve this goal through exhibitions and events held at our gallery throughout the year. Among our most successful events have been the New Brunswick Art Salons. Drawing inspiration from the traditional art salons of the 18th and 19th centuries\, we have used these events to connect talented artists with the New Brunswick public.  At its inception\, the Art Salons consisted of a spring exhibition of watercolor and mixed media and a fall exhibition of oil color and mixed media.  The success of these early salons and with of our sponsors and patrons we have been able to add a winter photography exhibition\, and more recently\, an all media exhibition in the summer. We believe that visual art is a universal form of expression capable of bridging cultural gaps and providing a forum where diverse perspectives can be shared and appreciated. We hope you will join us for this upcoming melding of the minds.
