SUMMARY:2014 - November 14 @ 6pm - Crossroads Theater Gala & New Brunswick Art Salon\, Fall 2014 Opening Reception
DESCRIPTION:Date: Friday\, November 14th 6-8 p.m. Tickets: $10 donation \nNEW BRUNSWICK\, NJ— On Friday\, November 14th\, Alfa Art Gallery will hold its fundraiser\, “End of Summer Nights Dream” at the Crossroads Theater at 7 Livingston Avenue in New Brunswick. \nThe gala will feature live music by Conrad Herwig\, the renowned jazz trombonist. Herwig has earned three Grammy nominations and has twice been voted Number One Jazz Trombone in the Downbeat International Jazz Critic’s Poll. He is also a well-respected educator\, currently serving as Area Coordinator of Jazz Studies at the Rutgers University Mason Gross School of the Arts here in New Brunswick. Herwig will be accompanied by Craig Handy on saxophone\, Bill O’Connel on piano\, Ruben Rodriguez on bass and Robby Ammen on drums. \nFor the showcase\, artists will spontaneously paint on canvas\, rendering inspiration that they feel from the music. Pieces by various artists from the New Brunswick Art Salon Fall’ 2014 will also be exhibited at this event. \nWith the assistance of the Middlesex County Cultural Heritage Commission\, Alfa Art Gallery successfully secured a grant from Johnson and Johnson. \n“End of Summer Nights Dream” takes place from 6-8pm\, right before the opening reception of the New Brunswick Art Salon\, which will open at Alfa Art Gallery at 108 Church Street in New Brunswick from 8 p.m. until 10 p.m. \nAlfa Art Gallery holds four Salons per year to showcase emerging and professional artists in different mediums. This fall’s Salon will feature watercolor and mixed media artists. Inspired by Parisian art salons of the 18th century\, the New Brunswick Art Salons’ goal is to bridge the gap between artists and their communities\, as well as unify the diverse city of New Brunswick through art. \nThe Alfa Art Gallery is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to the discovery and support of emerging and well-established artists. The gallery is open Tuesday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. \nFor more information about Alfa Art\, visit https://www.alfaart.org.
