Artist Statement:

I am a photo-based mixed media artist who combines natural and digital art media with my photos. I use my iPhone to capture and process my images as I integrate digital painting and collage into my pieces. Time has always been my obsession. As it elusively slips through my fingers, I believe that taking photographs is the only way I can define it, and comprehend its passage. Layers of light and color adds history to an image which can evoke a feeling of memory. I want to take the viewer into a world where they may not be able to immediately determine if the image was taken in the past or present as I illustrate an ambiguity that connects reality and illusion.

For this series of images, “Postcards from the Shore,” I conjure memories of my childhood summer days spent at the Jersey shore, and create the “postcards” of some of the places that played an important part of my formative years. By revisiting the haunts of my youth, I have discovered a timelessness; where my images are more than the snapshots of beloved locations of sand and sea.
