About Edna Carla Stradioto

Edna Carla Stradioto is a Brazilian artist who has shown her artwork in 30 exhibitions in Brazil, The United States, Rome, Vienna, and Paris. She has also been an illustrator for magazines and newspapers as well. Stradiotos works are inspired by a recent road trip she took to south Brazil. During her trip she came across large fields of rosae pampas grass. She was captivated by the grasses, especially the way they moved in the wind. When she returned home, she felt inspired to paint the grasses in as many ways as she could.  Over the next four months, Edna painted the grasses. She painted close up looks at the grass, showing their beautiful colors and feathery appearance, as well as distance, holistic views of the fields – showing how these individual “feathers” moved as a unit in the wind, creating what looks like a sea. Stradioto’s work shows us that inspiration can be found anywhere.

Artist Statementq

I am a Brazilian watercolorist and I would like to submit to you part of my artwork portfolio, please.

I have two curators in Brazil, and I have a background of 30 exhibitions up to now, in Brazil, United States, Rome, Vienna and Paris. Ant The Vienna Workshop Gallery is representing my artwork this year (Vienna, Austria).

The theme of that particular series attached is Cortaderia Selloana, known as pampas grass. I went on holidays by car to South of Brazil and I discovered fields and fields of rosae pampas grass all over the place. On the wind, they look like plumage and it is like a spectacular ballet from nature. When I came back home, I could not avoid the idea of paint the grass, as many ways I could possible think about them. It was a starting process that last more than four months, I am still passionate about them.

Thank you in advance.

King regards,
