50's Memory 2002 Daytona Car Show

Biography

As a graduate of the Fashion Institute of Technology, my first career was as an apparel designer.  I became more interested in graphic design so earned another degree in that field. Valuable experience working for a large lithographer prepared me to start my own design service (still in the days of “cut and paste”).  In the early ’80s, I was an early adapter of the computer and AutoCAD software as powerful new tools to do my work, specializing in illustration and graphic design for technical and engineering clients.

In 1984 I became an authorized AutoCAD dealer as I realized the potential of the computer for design and drafting applications. I was swept along in the wave of this exciting new technology as it quickly gained mainstream acceptance.  My company, Configured Systems Inc. earned Autodesk Training Center and Novell authorizations. We provided design visualization services to many top firms in the New York/New Jersey/Pennsylvania area.  Based on client feedback, our team won Autodesk’s “Superior Customer Service Award” and the “Kinetix Outstanding Achievement Award” for our expertise in design visualization. When we added Adobe dealer authorization to our skill set it rekindled my long standing passion for photography using the power of their Photoshop software.

Rapid growth of my business required total involvement in day-to-day management and keeping up with the fast moving technology left little time for photography or design. I accepted an offer to buy it in 1999 and happily regained precious time for the things I most love to do such as travel, design and photography.

Artist Statement

My photography depicts the special people, places and events in my life. Today’s digital photo technology is the powerful tool that allows me to tell the viewer a story, express a point of view and to more fully convey the images of my mind’s eye and my emotions. The hardware and software available today gives me more options than ever before to make creative and artistic choices when creating and producing my work.  This very fast moving technology is a challenge to keep up with so it is an ongoing and evolving process to share what I find beautiful (and sometimes not so beautiful) in our world.

Barbara recently placed as an honorable mention at the New Brunswick Art Salon 2018 — Photography: “A Facility for Photogenia” awarded by Andrew Darlow.

Her photography depicts the special people, places and events in her life. Today’s digital photo technology is the powerful tool that allows her to tell the viewer a story, express a point of view or to more fully convey the images of her mind’s eye and emotions. The hardware and software available today gives photographers more options then ever before to make creative and artistic choices when creating and producing their work.  This very fast moving technology is also a challenge to keep up with so it is an ongoing and evolving process to share what I find beautiful (and sometimes also not so beautiful) in our world.

As a graduate of the Fashion Institute of Technology, her first career was as an apparel designer.  She became more interested in graphic design and so earned another degree in that field.  Still in the days of “cut and paste,” her valuable experience working for a large lithographer prepared her to start her own design service.  In the early ’80s, she was an early adapter of the computer and AutoCAD software, powerful new tools to do her work, and she also specialized in illustration and graphic design for technical and engineering clients.

In 1984 her husband, Paul Eggermann and I became an authorized AutoCAD dealer, as they realized the potential of the computer for design and drafting applications. She was swept along in the wave of this exciting new technology as it quickly gained mainstream acceptance.  Their company, Configured Systems Inc., earned Autodesk Training Center and Novell authorization as well.  They focused on providing design visualization services to many top firms in the New York/New Jersey/Pennsylvania area.  Based on client feedback, her team won the Autodesk’s “Superior Customer Service Award” as well as their “Kinetix Outstanding Achievement Award” which recognized the Eggermann’s expertise in providing design visualization services.  They added Adobe dealer authorization to their credentials along the way as they saw the capabilities of their photography software rekindled by their long standing passion for photography.

The rapid growth of their business required total involvement in day-to-day management with little time for their first loves; photography or design. They accepted an offer to buy it in 1999 and  happily regained precious time for the things they both most loved to do such as travel, design and photography.
