Alison Hooper is a local New Jersey artist who specializes in minimalist figurative sculptures. She received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Ohio Wesleyan University and a Master of Arts in Metal Sculpture from Kean University. Hooper is currentlyAlison Hooper- Wrapped Up In Summer an esteemed Art Educator in Westfield, NJ. She is a recipient of the Governor’s Teaching Award (1990 and 2000) and is also listed in the “Who’s Who Among American Teachers and Professionals.” Hooper is known for creating an intriguing juxtaposition of both traditional representation and abstract forms. She combines these two qualities to evoke certain emotions or impressions, ranging from playful to serene. Her contemporary sculptures reveal a sense of self awareness of the human body and spirit. Her work is held in private collections in New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Virginia and California.
