October 15th, 2009 - Alfa Art Gallery presents the work of Rodney Durso at 3rd Annual High Line Open Studios

Rodney Durso

Alfa Art Gallery is pleased to present the latest work of Rodney Durso at the 3rd Annual High Line Open Studios on Thursday October 15th,  from 6-9 pm, at 526 West 26th St., Studio 503 New York, between 10-11th ave. This event will feature an exclusive behind-the-scenes viewing of Rodney Durso’s most recent artwork within his personal studio along with a Q & A discussion with the artist.

Rodney Durso is one of the founding members of the High Line Open Studios project, created to bring exposure to artists who work and live in the High Line district of West Chelsea. The artist holds a BS degree in design and advertising and has studied under design masters Milton Glaser, Paul Davis and Ed Bengait. Since 1990, Rodney has worked as a graphic designer, brand consultant, and creative director in New York City. He is also the recent founder of art-bridge.org, an organization devoted to showcasing unrepresented artists through public exhibition.

Durso’s design background is evident in his exploration of political, economical, and environmental motifs. Like the Pop artists of the sixties, Durso reduces mass communications to raw material for his artistic exploration. The artist’s mixed media works are an inventive hybrid of collage, piecework, appliqué, graphic design, and painting that highlight his mastery of color and design.
