Alfa Art Gallery will be hosting the seasonal New Brunswick Art Salon, Photography 2015 exhibition featuring the Raritan Photographic Society (RPS). The opening will be held on February 20th 2015 at 108 Church Street, New Brunswick, NJ.

The gallery is pleased and excited to introduce the Raritan Photographic Society and its members’ works into the New Brunswick community. The exhibition continues to support Alfa’s initiatives to promote art organizations such as RPS. Working with RPS and its diverse members, the gallery is able to continue to give new talented artists a place of exposure as well as provide tangible products of expression to expand the perspectives of individuals in effort to grow the unity and cultural heritage.

The exhibition features works by Barbara Eggermann, Hilda S. DeSanctis, Carol Biunno-Petscavage, Bill Petscavage, Susan Powell, Paul Eggermann, Julie Barlasov and John Cregar.

Vesselin Kourtev, the gallery’s owner spoke about the new exhibition with enthusiasm, “The decision to present the society to the local community is part of Alfa’s dedication to promote many new and emerging artists and their works.”

Barbara Eggermann the RPS Coordinator, shared Mr. Kourtev’s enthusiasm over the new found partnership, “It is an opportunity to introduce RPS to a broader audience. It is also a chance for the exhibiting members to have their work seen and to attract new people to become involved in RPS and their activities.”

The exhibition will be from 6:30-9pm promptly, and refreshments will be served. The exhibition has no admission fee and is open to the public.

About the Raritan Photo Society

RPS originally started in 1929 with a small group of photo enthusiasts regularly meeting in each other’s homes. At present, the society has 50 paid members and many more regular visitors who attend the lectures, which occur twice a month. RPS has witnessed the amazing evolution of photography from glass plates to today’s powerful digital photo technology.

The society’s photographers are united in a mutual love of photography, but maintain their individual aspirations as to what they want to achieve with that love. There are members who are professional photographers as well as members working towards achieving professional status. Its members choose to work in a wide spectrum of styles from photo-realism to abstraction as well as members who are still looking to find their own style. The members hold a common passion for photography and a desire to become better photographers. Regular RPS lectures and critiqued competitions conducted by professional photographers help to improve the members’ skills, to grow their knowledge of photography and to make new friends who share their interest.
